POEM: There's Something About Soup

There's Something About Soup


I remember a fairy tale from my childhood
and it created the love
of making soup.
Someone placed
a plain pot
of water over the fire
added a big stone
and stirred it with a carrot
an onion
and a potato.
It became soup somehow.
I've always wanted
to look into that pot
to taste it's treasure
to witness the transformation
from earth
to food.
There's just something about soup.
It's as easy as the fairy tale.
